Wednesday Sunrise

This morning, as I was reading my daily devotional, I gained a bit of insight that I wanted to share.

As believers and followers of Christ, we are all given talents and gifts in the fruits of the Holy Spirit. How we use those gifts and talents to encourage others, to bring out the best in ourselves, and to share the word of God with our fellow man determines our preparedness to answer our true calling.

First, through prayerful study, discover what we are called to do as we go through this life.

Second, get our priorities aligned with our calling. Our focus should be on 1. God 2. Family 3. Prayerful Study 4. Lifting and encouraging others as we are called.

Third, rely on prayer and trust in God to resist distractions and temptations that divert us from our path.

I know this is rather simple to state yet very hard to accomplish. That is why I found these thoughts encouraging. It requires dedicated prayer and study to uncover God’s will for our lives. It is an ongoing and continuous effort of growth and change. We must believe that when we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, now empowered by the gift of the Holy Spirit, we are changed. What was our life is no longer, we are born anew and no longer living by the influences of this world, but by the urgings of the Holy Spirit as we become servants of God.

Prayer

Our most gracious and loving heavenly Father. We praise you for all the many blessings that we have been given. We pray that daily we recognize all that you have prepared for each of us. We pray that our hearts are grateful for the many rewards you provide that we do not deserve. We pray for forgiveness of our sinful nature. By your grace and the gift of the Holy Spirit, let each of us find the calling for our lives that will honor and bring you glory. We pray that as you lead us along our path in life, we live to encourage others, to lift them and build them up to overcome their needs. We pray that you protect us in this journey from the distractions and temptations that will divert us from your will.

These things we pray in Jesus’s holy name. Amen

Have a blessed day!
